The winner of the competition will be announced on July 8, 2022, on the eve of the holy feast of Muslims Kurban Bayram.
2022, the year of the 1,100th anniversary of the Islam adoption by the Volga Bulgaria, will be marked for guests and residents of Kazan by another essential event: laying the foundation stone on the site of the future Cathedral Mosque for 10,000 visitors.
The construction of a new Cathedral Mosque on the opposite bank of the Kazanka River, planned for 2022, is very symbolic. If the Kul Sharif mosque was built on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin as a symbol of the revival of the former ancient Khan's mosque, then the new Cathedral Mosque, located in the new district of Kazan among modern residential complexes and shopping centers, will become a landmark for future generations.
On February 3, 2022, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan R.N. Minnikhanov signed the Decree “On the establishment of the Republican Fund for Assistance to the Spiritual and Moral Development of the Society "Igelek - Dobrota".
The first large and significant project for the Fund will be the holding of the Open International Competition for the Development of Concept Design of the Cathedral Mosque of Kazan and Surrounding Area.
