Online madrasah in Russian has been launched in Russia

February 13
Summing up the Year of the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam in Volga Bulgaria and as a part of the Year of National Cultures and Traditions announced in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan and Huzur Publishing House implemented a new project – an online madrasah in Russian. Thus, now Russian-speaking Muslims have the opportunity to get knowledge on the basics of Islam for free from different parts of the world.
A unique educational platform has raised the first stage of Islamic education in Russia to the whole new level. For example, madrasah courses: online madrasah will help those who live far from mosques or for various reasons are unable to attend them full-time to easily and quickly receive primary religious education. Moreover, the content of the resource’s classes is based on the curriculum of madrasah courses developed and adopted by the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan, i.e. as a part of the Hanafi Madhhab (Sunni school) and the Maturidite Aqida (creed). The resource offers to master 7 basic Islamic disciplines at the basic level. They are Islamic Law (Fiqh), Hadith Studies, Koran and Tafsir, ahlyak (morality), Arabic and Tajwid, the biography of Prophet Muhammad and the History of Islam in Russia. Also, the course contains a video practice with a detailed explanation of the rules for reading obligatory, festive and Sunnat namazes. In total, users expect more than 200 video tutorials lasting more than 48 hours. In addition, the lessons are duplicated in text and audio.
The online madrasah operates on the educational platform medrese.tatar, as well as in a free mobile application developed for iOS and Android smartphones. The application is titled as Online Madrasah. You can download it for free in Play Market and App Store. Lessons can be mastered in a convenient place at any time of the day and from any device connected to the Internet (computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.).
On the educational platform https://medrese.tatar/ you can register via all popular social networks or by email. After registering in the system, each student opens a personal account, which collects information about the topics passed, tests completed and personal achievements. It is noteworthy that “shakirds” will have to pass a control test on the online madrasah after each lesson. Upon successful completion of the test, the content of the next lesson becomes available to the listeners. If you get a low score, you need to return to the undigested topic again.
Teachers of Muhammadiyah Madrasah, the Russian Islamic Institute, Kazan Federal University, and imam khatibs of Kazan mosques are involved as teachers of the online madrasah.
The online madrasah project was developed on the basis of the platform of the first Tatar online madrasah, created in 2021. In 2022, 14,385 shakirds visited the platform.  77 of them have successfully completed their studies and have fully mastered the program on the basics of Islam. It is also noteworthy that 43% of all madrasah users belong to the young part of the population under 44 years of age. At the same time, 60% of students are women. The wide geography of users also testifies to the high demand for the project. In addition to Russian Tatars, from 729 to 1000 Tatar compatriots from Kazakhstan, the USA, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Germany receive knowledge on the portal. Users in the number of less than 100 people are from Europe, Asia, North America, etc. A total of 63,577 people have used the web site since its launch (on January 18, 2021). 475 people completed the training.
The resource is an alternative to lectures by unknown “sheikhs” and dubious video resources on the Internet.
