A Mosque in the Porokhovaya Sloboda (Powder Settlement)

May 2

A two-storey wooden building of log structure on a brick basement. The architectural solution is based on the use of stylistic elements of the Baroque in combination with a simplified interpretation of individual details. The facade has 11 rectangular windows on the long axis; the central risalit (break) is shifted from the axis of symmetry and accentuated by a prismatic minaret towering above the roof.  Arched windows are located on each side of it, the corners are decorated with pilasters.
The roof of the minaret is decorated with a low dome with a high spire (pinacle) holding a crescent; four small pinacles at the corners of the cornice are also decorated with crescents.  The walls of the building and the minaret are sheathed with planks.
