On June 15, 2022 an online meeting of experts and participants of The Open International Competition for the Development of Concept Design of the Cathedral Mosque of Kazan and Surrounding Area was held.
For two and a half months the Republican Fund for Assistance to the Spiritual and Moral Development of the Society “Igelek – Dobrota” together with the participating teams and experts has been actively working on the development of the concept design of the Cathedral Mosque of Kazan and surrounding area.
On June 15 the second seminar for contestants took place in the format of a Zoom conference. In the process of preparing projects and already almost at the final stage of the competition, the teams ask questions that need to be provided with competent answers from specialists.
For the organisers of the competition, in turn, it is very important that the participants have all the necessary material for the further work.
At the conference, the experts told the participants about traditional national features in the construction and design of mosques. The Director of the Institute of History named after Sh. Mardjani of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Radik Salikhov told about the history of the surviving ancient mosques of Kazan. The Professor, Doctor of Art History, Chief Researcher at the Institute of History named after Shigabutdin Marjani of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Guzel Valeeva-Suleimanova talked about the architectural and decorative features in the design of Tatar mosques. Kamil Hazrat Samigullin gave more information about the living conditions, maintenance and operation of a mosque. The Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Beruni of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Babadzhanov spoke about Muslim epigraphy.
There are only a few days left until the end of the Competition. The winner will be announced on July 8, 2022, on the eve of the sacred Muslim holiday – Eid al-Adha.
